Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art’s In Residence program is a Department of Education (DoE) program specifically for Year 10 visual art students, supported by the Queensland Art Gallery I Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA).

In 2023, In Residence will be a full and immersive 3-day program held in Brisbane with students engaging with QAGOMA – Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) and Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA), artists and tertiary partners.

The program will provide Year 10 Queensland visual art students with the opportunity to strengthen their understanding of the academic, experimental, collaborative and reflective nature of contemporary visual art, and gain an appreciation for the breadth of opportunities in the creative industries.

The 2023 In Residence program is open to current Year 10 Queensland state and non-state school students who intend to study senior visual art in 2024.

No more than 4 students per school can be nominated for the program. The four students selected to complete an application were Ava, Sydney, Chloe, and Indianna. Congratulations to all four girls.

The response to the program this year was immense with 99 submissions made, all from highly accomplished visual arts school students.Only 21 students from these submissions were accepted into the program. Two students from Trinity were selected, Sydney and Chloe. A huge congratulations to both girls on their selection into the program. Chloe has chosen to take up the offer and will attend the 3-day live-in workshop in Brisbane in November.

From a very proud Head of Arts,
