The Class of 2020 was our first cohort to undergo the new Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) system which replaced the Overall Position (OP) system.
Last week, I discussed how family support and a positive home environment contribute significantly to student success at school. This week, I have focused on how a student’s personal management skills contribute to their success at school.
As we return to a somewhat normal school term, with various school activities and external club activities back in action, we trust that students will find the balance they missed during the COVID shutdown.
I am sure you are, like me, caught up in the maelstrom of news over the last four to six weeks pertaining to COVID-19. On the one hand, you feel the need to remain informed via the news conferences and updates, but on the other hand, you are so tired of the conflicting messages and opinions coming from different parties.
So much has changed over these last eight weeks. Week one saw our staff and students returning from a well-earned summer break, rested and refreshed. Now our world and the media are filled COVID-19 related information and and there are vast changes to what we know as school life, and life in general.
