Facilities Manager. Permanent, Full Time | Trinity Lutheran College
ENROL ONLINE

This newly created role is a great opportunity to establish your own team and deliver services that you can be proud of, build a team culture that is focused on quality work and receive regular thanks for the awesome experience you provide our students and staff.

Reporting to the newly appointed Chief Operations Officer, you’ll enjoying working in a culture that genuinely cares about the quality of facilities provided to our staff and 1,300 students across our two Ashmore locations.

Student safety is our number one.  Working alongside our WHS Officer, you’ll make sure any safety issues are fixed pronto.  Rapidly. Immediately.  Quickly…well, you get the point.  To keep our staff and students safe, you will develop the compliance schedule and oversee its daily implementation. Nobody thinks about a fire extinguisher, emergency procedure, water valve or AED until they desperately need it, so it’s your role to make sure these needs are considered in advance, maintained, documented and pro-actively managed.

We already have a great team of grounds, maintenance and landscape staff, plus a supervisor, who take care of the day-to-day essentials.  We’re looking for someone who can operate at a strategic level, logically plan our future years, ensure our current compliance and offer positive leadership to a team of 8.

When it comes to the strategic part of your role, you’ll be someone who can see the future – not using a crystal ball – but because you can envisage how the buildings, grounds, facilities and infrastructure will support our students and teachers to deliver a world-class education in the coming years.

Having created your own vision, you can then plan all the construction, maintenance and renovation work required to bring your vision to life, including setting up a planned schedule of work for coming years.

Hopefully, each time something needs maintenance it prompts you to ask questions – do we repair it?  Or use this as an opportunity to upgrade? Build? Change approach? Redesign?

Although having a list of things to do in future is great, there are commercial realities so you will estimate the project costs, produce budgets and then work with executive team to prioritise and schedule accordingly.

Your team will manage most of the sub-contractors, although your oversight will ensure work is being done properly, effectively manage any cost variations and keep track of each performance so you know which firms you’ll continue to use.

Is This The Role For You?

We’re looking for the right candidate because this role is very important to us.  If you join our team, it’s essential that you contribute to our supportive, positive and friendly culture.  You’ll have high leadership standards and lead by example, while being focused, efficient, practical and logical.

This role would suit someone with great experience in Facilities Management, who is fed up with their current situation of being underfunded to do important maintenance work and is always having to fight to get essential things done.  You’ve probably had enough to being reactive and would enjoy a more proactive role that is thinking of the future.

Someone who likes to “do it once and do it properly”, while working across both of our beautiful campus locations, enjoying free parking, discounted school fees and receiving genuine training and development opportunities.

We consider the Facilities Manager an essential part of our team, so you’ll be part of a management team who make long-term decisions with foresight, logic and pragmatism.
